Hi,

My name is Neil Stanton and I am the Managing Director of Big Dog World. I live with my partner Cath and our 13-stone Newfoundland, Elvis, in a small village in the Surrey countryside.

What We Do and Why We Do It

Big Dog World was formed in 2010 as an online shop dedicated to products for larger dogs.

In 2008, Elvis became part of our family. In the following months and years, we discovered that many of the products we bought for him from supermarkets, pet shops and online pet retailers were not suitable for large powerful dogs. Chews lasted 5 minutes, toys were destroyed in 2 minutes, accessories weren't available in the size we needed, and we found ourselves trawling through thousands of products looking for ones that would be appropriate for a dog of his size and strength.

After scouring the internet, we discovered that there wasn't anyone in the UK specialising in products for large and giant breeds, and the idea for Big Dog World was born! 

After nearly 10 years managing and developing IT systems and websites in the public sector, I decided to set up on my own and do something I am passionate about - to produce an easy-to-use website supplying high quality products at great value prices for fellow owners of big dogs, with unbeatable customer service. A bonus is that I get to spend more time with Elvis! 

Your Support Helps Dogs In Need

Here at Big Dog World we are committed to supporting the fantastic work done by dog rescue centres and charities across the UK.

From 1 July 2012, we are donating £1 to a UK dog charity or rescue centre for every £100 spent on our website. Since starting the scheme, we have raised over £1600 in the first 6 months!

The charity is selected by a poll on our Facebook page every 3 months, and we are currently supporting Homeless Hounds, a wonderful non-profit organisation dedicated to rehoming dogs in need.

We have also donated to organisations such as Dogue de Bordeaux Welfare, UK German Shepherd Rescue, Neopolitan Mastiff Aid, Alaskan Malamute Rescue and Large Breed Dog Rescue. Please spread the word and help us to help them.
